Looking through my traffic stats today, I noticed I was getting some traffic from people looking for the meaning of the name Kailynn. So, as a public service, I figured I'd do my part to help out here. Never say I don't get you guys anything.
According to BabyNamer.com, Kailynn's source is Caoilinn, a Gaelic name meaning "Slim and fair." Now, if we look at my daughter, that's pretty accurate. She is definately pretty skinny and she is fair in complexion.
We also bought one of those birthday fact sheets for both of our kids and it gives the meaning of Kailynn as a juxtaposition of Kay (meaning unsullied or unspoiled) and Lynn (meaning a gentle brook). I've always used that as a decription when people ask me what Kailynn means and then explain that her personality is the polar opposite. I think she's more like the sea during a category 5 hurricane myself.
Now where did we get the name? There was a street name I saw named Kailynn Street that I liked the sound of it, so I fought tooth and name for the name.
Interestingly enough, I had thought that I was pretty smart and picked a name no one else uses, but we've heard the name several times applied to other kids here and there. Places such as the doctor's office or at schools. I guess I wasn't as unique as I thought I was. Oh well, still a pretty cool name if I say so myself. I can almost guarantee that there will be no other kids in her class with her name.
And while we're on the subject of Kailynn, she got her first birthday invitation today! She's 22 months old now. I highly doubt kids even care who comes to their party. Do they even care what they get in the way of presents, or are they just happy to play with the box?
Oh well, the party is at Chucky Cheese, so at the very least, Michael will have fun. He's been bugging us for at least the past year to take him. I just never thought he was old enough. Last time I was at Chucky Cheese, I believe I was around 12 or so and all they had was skee-ball type of games and video games. To me that's just not 2 year old type of things. Michael age, MAYBE, but definately not 2 year old land. Unless I'm wrong and they've gotten new stuff more appropriate for that age range.
OK, I just looked at their website, and it looks like it's pretty much like I remember. I'm not quite sure what all the 2 year old little kids will do there. I think one of the bouncy places we've been too would be a lot closer to being appropriate.
It looks like we're going to be pretty busy again over the next couple of weeks with all the holiday stuff going on around town, plus birthday parties. Some of the towns around here have "Snow Days". See, we live in Southern California where a majority of our kids have never even seen snow. So when they make snow at one of our local parks, it's a pretty big deal for us. The kids have a blast playing with that wet, cold stuff, and the parents enjoy it because it's a nice, fun, FREE activity for the kids to play with. And the kids get to get out their REALLY cold gear which they never get to wear because it rarely gets below 70 degrees around here. And no driving in snow required! And you always wondered why people move here in droves considering the state is always burning down or shaken apart by earthquakes.
