I would like to give you a little glimpse into a general day in the life of Super Mega Dad today.
I work from home at least a couple of days a week, and on those days, Princess K stays home with me. If Super Michael is off from school, he stays home as well. But today it was just Princess K and me.
This video was taken today, near the end of my work day and a short hour from when Super Mega Mommy usually comes home. We like to start cleaning up our messes a good hour or two before she gets home, because, as you can see, a three year old can make quite a large mess.
As you can see from the video, the family room is just covered in naked baby dolls, unpeeled Tinker Bell stickers numbering in the hundreds, Mega Blocks, stuffed animals galore, blankies, Princess telephones, and Princess K's shoes that she wore this morning and casually tossed aside. You can also see Super Michael oblivious to the whole horrible mess playing Lego Star Wars in the background (he just finished his homework for the day, so he gets some XBox time).
This is my day EVERYDAY in some form or another. Strangely enough, the house gets to this level of mess no matter the length of time the kids invest in it. It could be this way ten minutes after the kids wake up in the morning, or it could be this way after eight straight hours of playing.
However, by the time Super Mega Mommy gets home, ALL the toys are generally picked up and put away for the next mess making marathon the next day.
On another note, while we were cleaning up the house, Princess K came across an "alligator" in our dining room! She ran over to me while she was cleaning up her messes announcing that there was an "alligator" in the house and it was scary. I realized fairly quickly that we live in California, not Florida, so the probability of having an actual alligator in our house was pretty slim. Not to mention that we have no significant body of water anywhere near our house, unless you count the neighbors pool that is. I highly doubt the neighbors would keep an alligator as a pet, but, being California, you never know.
So, without further ado, I give you the "alligator" in all his glory:
So, there you have it, a short summary of how my day goes. Does anybody else have their kids home with them during work days, or even stay at home days? What drives you crazy during those days?
