Why Do They Sleep Like That?

15. January 2009 by Super Mega Dad 2 Comments

There's something I need to get off my chest...

Why do my children sleep in their beds in every position BUT the normal one with their heads on their pillows and their bodies under the covers just like everybody else on the planet?

I go into their rooms when I go upstairs to hop into bed and they are always in a some very painful looking poses.  Princess K sometimes is half in and half out of her toddler bed with her skinny butt sticking straight up in the air.  No covers, no nothing.  Super Michael is usually sideways in his bed with his head usually propped up sideways on one of the 152 stuffed animals in his bed and his feet hanging over the side of his 2 story bed.

Before going to bed myself, I rearrange my kids into a more comfortable looking position because it just looks so UNCOMFORTABLE and I know if I was in that position, I probably wouldn't be able to move the next day.  I'll wake up in the middle of the night, go in and check in on them and DAMN THEM if they aren't in some other pose.  Super Michael will be completely upside down in his bed with his head under the blankets and down near the bottom of the bed and his feet hanging out the top, and Princess K will have gotten herself in an awkward position with her head and top part of her body hanging off the bottom of her bed looking up at the ceiling with her feet still on the bed.  At this point, I just shake my head, leave them the way they are and head off to bed.  I really feel for anybody they share the bed with in the future.  That will be very interesting.

Talking about bedtime, Princess K wanted a HUGE Teddy Bear for her birthday which is coming up in another week or so, so we got it for her early.  This thing is damn near as tall as me and weighs more then her, but she just HAS to have it in bed with her.  She already has a large pile of stuffed things in her bed, as well as dollies, books, and what have you, so throwing the big bear in the mix just made her bed completely disappear under the load.   Super Michael's bed isn't much better.

I guess it's a security thing or something?

My oldest sleeps upside down on the bed, like, head where his feet should be. Then he scrunches himself down as close to the wall as possible.
